CoilTrak (CDAQ)

Over the last decade, the coiled-tubing (CT) drill unit has an integral, growing element in off-shore and on-shore oil exploration. The CT is a self-contained, transported, hydraulically-powered work over unit that injects and retrieves a continuous string of tubing into a larger string of tubing or casing. Proven applications in vertical, horizontal, and highly deviated wells include Electric Wire line Logging and Perforating, and Fluid Displacement. During operation, the CT is constantly being taken out of a reel and fed into the well and wound back. The constant stress on the CT due to the winding and unwinding results in the loss of its tensile strength over a period of time. It is important therefore to monitor pressures and the overall usage of the CT.

Infodat 's CoilTrak (Coiled Tubing Data Acquisition System) was developed to automate the data collection, archiving and display. Prior to the system development all the data entry was manual and limited. CoilTrak provides customizable Data Acquisition and maintains a log for the coiled tubing. It also provides the user with the option to set up alarms both for obstructions in the well while the coiled tubing moves into the well. This improves the safety while working with the unit. A replay job function has been implemented, which enables the user to do post job analysis by replaying data from an earlier job. Thus CoilTrak not only automates the data logging of CT units but also enhances its safety and adds on the analysis capability.

CoilTrak is built using Field point modules and the entire software in Lab View based. The product interfaces with standard software platforms such as Excel, Access and Cerberus.
